The Fool upright meaning
The Fool is card zero, the one that sits outside the numbered sequence and then walks into it. Upright, it marks the start of something whose outcome you cannot see yet: a move, a new job, a relationship, a project you have no track record in. The card is not saying the leap is safe. It is saying the leap is worth taking, and that the part of you insisting on a guarantee first is the part holding you back.
There is a lightness to this card that is easy to mistake for naivety. The Fool travels light because the old baggage no longer fits the road ahead. If it turns up while you are sitting on a decision, it usually points toward saying yes, starting before you feel ready, and treating early mistakes as tuition rather than proof you should never have tried.

The Fool reversed meaning
Reversed, the same energy tips one of two ways. Sometimes it becomes recklessness: jumping without looking, ignoring good advice because it spoils the mood, or chasing novelty to avoid finishing something. Other times it turns inward and becomes paralysis, where you can see the edge clearly and keep finding new reasons not to step off.
Ask which of the two sounds more like you right now. If you are rushing, the reversed Fool asks for one honest look at the risks before you go. If you are stalling, it points out that waiting for certainty is itself a choice, and usually not the one you will be glad of later.
